Welcome to the Donors of Color Network.

People often call us DOCN for short.

We’re glad you’re here. Let us introduce you to our organization. This style guide covers the basics of our brand—our vision, mission, values, voice, and visual identity. Take a moment to get familiar with who we are, what we stand for, and how we show up in the world.

Our Why

Vision

We envision a just and equitable future where Black, Indigenous, and all communities of color can thrive fully in a joyful society free from violence and systemic racism.

Mission

We are building the collective power of donors of color to advance racial justice through cross-racial solidarity and multiracial giving.

Our Values

Joy

Joy is a vibrant demonstration of our resistance to the world’s racial inequities. We center joy in every experience we create and conversation we hold.

Community

Community is the heart of what we do. We’re building an active community for donors of color united by a shared mission of advancing racial justice.

Solidarity

Solidarity will break through the barriers to racial equity. We bring donors of color, philanthropic institutions, and movement leaders together to work in solidarity and catalyze systemic change.

Power

Power lies in our experiences, connections, resources, and wealth. By channeling the collective power of our network into values-aligned movements, we can shift the center of gravity in philanthropy toward racial justice.

Generally avoid using stock photography as much as possible. If needed, great sources of free stock photography include Unsplash and Pexels.

Patterns

Patterns are an important component to the DOCN brand. The patterns are based on Voroni Diagrams and have been formed using this Voroni Generator.

How to use patterns

Patterns can be used as top, side, bottom, and corner treatments.

Patterns may be used as backgrounds, however legibility should be considered. If text will be directly on top of the pattern, ensure that the pattern and the background have very low contrast and the text color has very high contrast (first image below). If using a full color pattern, place a solid color behind text for legibility (second image below).

We encourage you to break out individual elements from the patterns to use as containers for images or text.
